On 3 May 2023 a group of Danish maritime companies presented their solutions and services to Cochin Shipyard, which is India´s leading shipbuilding group, at a virtual Danish Maritime delegation visit to the shipyard entitled “Green & Smart Shipbuilding”.Mr Sivaram N. Swamy, General Manager, Cochin Shipyard Ltd introduced the shipyard´s competences, development initiatives and current orderbook. Currently, Cochin Shipyard is the world´s 134. largest yard.  Subsequently, maritime counsellor Josephine Pallesen from the Royal Danish Embassy in New Delhi gave an update on the formal Indo-Danish maritime collaboration.

Shipbuilding is a priority of the Government of India and thanks to a growing economy, a young and talented population and geopolitical changes in Asia, the market potential is considerable. Then followed presentations from the Danish providers Allset Industries, Iron Pump, Green Instruments, Advent Technologies, Lopolight and SH Defence. Several new contacts between Cochin Shipyard and the participating Danish maritime companies were created and will be followed-up in the following weeks.
