Strengthened collaboration on offshore wind in the North Sea – Danish Maritime signs international Memorandum of Understanding
Danish Maritime and five international partners have reached an agreement on a new international Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing cooperation between key stakeholders in the development of offshore wind and maritime technologies across the North Sea region. The partners include Innovation Norway, the Maritime Cluster Northern Germany, the Netherlands Business Support Office Hamburg, and authorities and development agencies from Northern Netherlands.
The purpose of the agreement is to promote regional collaboration and strengthen ties between industries, research institutions, and organizations in the participating countries – with a particular focus on delivering on the ambitious goal of 300 GW offshore wind capacity in the North Sea by 2050.
Jenny Braat, CEO of Danish Maritime, is pleased with the agreement:
“We are very pleased to enter this collaboration. It allows us to actively leverage Denmark’s maritime strengths and build new cross-border partnerships. Offshore wind requires cooperation, and this agreement provides a solid framework for sharing knowledge, promoting green technologies, and supporting industrial development.”
The Danish maritime industry holds a strong and diverse position in the offshore wind sector.
Danish companies design, build and equip innovative and energy-efficient vessels for installation, service, and crew transfer, including pioneering solutions for zero-emission fuels and offshore charging. Shipyards and equipment suppliers contribute with advanced repair, retrofitting, life-saving systems, robotics, and energy-efficient technologies. Moreover, Danish expertise spans electrical installations, coatings, shore power, and many other fields. The final agreement is expected to be signed this week.
