“The European Green Deal: Setting the course for sustainable maritime industry” seminar in Brussels

In December 2019, European Commission published the European Green Deal – an ambitious growth strategy which sets out a plan for an economy-wide transition which will enable Europe to achieve climate neutrality by the year 2050. Among other measures, the Green Deal strives to increase the EU’s greenhouse gas emission reductions target for the year 2030 and to introduce more stringent air quality standards. Transportation sector, which accounts for a quarter of the EU’s total greenhouse gas emissions, is expected to achieve a 90% reduction in transport emissions by the year 2050.

To learn more about the European Green Deal’s implications for the maritime industry, ECOPRODIGI invites interested stakeholders to take part in the European Green Deal: Setting the Course for Sustainable Maritime Industry seminar which is organised in Brussels, Belgium on Tuesday, the 5th of May.

The seminar addresses topics such as:

  • The European Green Deal – implications for maritime industry
  • The role of digital tools and solutions in increasing eco-efficiency in vessel performancecargo stowage and shipyard processes
  • Policy measures needed to support prosperous and sustainable development in maritime industry

The seminar features thought-provoking speakers from both the industry and the policy side of the field, including keynote speeches from

Jutta Paulus – Member of the European Parliament & ENVI-committee’s rapporteur for the revision of the MRV file of CO₂ emissions from maritime transport

Benoît Loicq – Environment & Technical Director, SEA Europe

Peter Crawley – Research Policy Officer, Waterborne Transport, DG RTD at the European Commission
